I have practiced Chinese Medicine as a licensed Acupuncturist since 1993. But since I treat American patients, I need to treat the culture they come from. Did you know that the following partial list of disorders such as Chronic Pain, Asthma, Allergies, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Obesity, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Headaches/Migraines, Autoimmune Disorders, Infertility, Menstrual Disorders, Musculoskeletal Disorders, Rheumatological Issues, MTHFR Treatment, Stress/Anxiety and Women’s Health issues can surprisingly be linked to what I call “The Modern American Gut?” No, not a beer belly, but the epidemic of Small Intestinal Hyperpermeability or “Leaky Gut”. My centrally located Chestertown, Maryland location is an easy commute for my patients in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and New Jersey. 45 minutes past the Bay Bridge from Baltimore and Washington, DC, relief for your condition is just around the corner. I am a participating provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carefirst, Cigna and United Healthcare.
Combining ancient Chinese Medicine principles with modern research provides much of my success in treating patients. I prioritize putting right what has been damaged by the use of Antibiotics, Hormones, Anti-inflammatories and a diet high in sugar and simple carbohydrates. Using acupuncture, Chinese herbal formulas, probiotics, digestive enzymes and vitamins along with an anti-inflammatory diet will clear many symptoms relatively quickly.
I received my B.A. in Environmental Studies from Ramapo College of NJ. My training in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine was completed at Tristate College of Acupuncture in New York, NY from where I graduated in 1993.
I have studied under the supervision of many masters of acupuncture with training in the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) style by Bob Flaws, Japanese style under Kiiko Matsumoto, and in the Acupuncture Physical Medicine style of Mark Seem.
Further education in Chinese Herbal Medicine was with Ted Kaptchuk O.M.D. author of The Web That Has No Weaver.
In 1993 I became a Diplomate in Acupuncture after having passed the National Boards (NCCAOM), became licensed in Maryland and opened my practice in Chestertown.
Chinese Medicine provides an opportunity for patient and practitioner to form a collaborative partnership where responsibility for wellness is shared.
I take an individualized approach to each person who comes to me for treatment, trying to carefully listen so that what I do can truly make a difference in their lives.
In my practice I value spending quality time with each patient and give each person my full attention and concentration. I look at each person’s problem as unique, and try to find the clues that others have missed.
Although I treat many health issues, I have come to specialize in the treatment of chronic pain conditions. This is because the majority of people who have come to me have not had success with any other modalities.
